Camden/Rockport

Rebecca Cooper pauses to take in the view of Camden Harbor from Mount Battie.
Camden and Rockport, once a unified town, split in 1891 over the cost of construction of a bridge. But they remain closely connected, and the area is a tourist hub in the summertime, boasting a picturesque mixture of boutique shopping, dining opportunities, entertainment and scenic adventures on the water's edge.

Whether it be on a scenic windjammer cruise or whale watching expedition or a sea-kayaking trip up the coast, get out to explore the towns' respective harbors.

Flanked by the Camden Hills, the midcoast fleet of windjammers, schooners and daysailors gather in Camden Harbor for Windjammer Weekend - a celebration of nautical heritage, sea history and life, and music.
Both towns are linked to thriving Midcoast artist communities, so be on the lookout for unique artwork to enjoy and possibly purchase.

The nearby Camden Hills State Park is located just north of town center in the Megunticook range. With over 5,500 acres, there are plenty of hiking opportunities: trails that climb to overlooks with great views and more gentle walks along the Penobscot Bay. With picnicking facilities, there are ample opportunities to admire the view and have a bite to eat.
