Visitors can debate all they want about whether Paul Bunyan was a Bangor native or not. One thing that's not up for debate is how fun the tribute to him is.

More about it: Paul Bunyan is, according to folk legend, a lumberman who could clear a forest with a single swing of his ax. As the story goes, the giant can also take credit for many of the geographic features in the US and Canada, including the Great Lakes.

Bangor claims to be the birthplace of the logging legend, which only makes sense, given the area's rich logging tradition. The statue, erected in the 60s, stands more than 30 feet tall.
